The center of our Episcopal liturgy—the center of our lives as Christians—is the celebration of the Eucharist (from the Greek, thanksgiving), also referred to as the Lord's Supper, Holy Communion, or Mass).
In the Eucharist we hear the inspired words of the Bible, a sermon connecting faith with life, the prayers of the people, and narrative prayer of blessing over the bread and wine. In this whole act of remembrance, we experience the real presence of God.
It's our tradition at St. Bart's, remembering Jesus radical acceptance of all, to include everyone at the communion table, including children. Often the integrity of intention and action leads to faith and holy habit.
There are many opportunities to ask questions, learn about our christian tradition and deepen your participation in parish life as you explore membership.
Our main celebrations are on Sundays, with a briefer, simpler noon Eucharist Monday through Friday, and a "Sunday on Wednesdy" celebration with music. We read the daily office of Evening Prayer Monday through Friday, and Morning Prayer on Saturdays.
One Sunday per year, children and families are invited to attend an exploration of their special place at God's Communion Table -- and the unique theology that excludes no one, regardless of age. Topics include the fundamental structure of Episcopal worship, the role of remembrance, consecration, use of story, and God's promise to dwell among us, as we gather with our parish family and in our daily lives. Childcare, Chapel, and Sunday School communities are invited to attend this interactive session conducted by the Director of Children Youth and Family Ministries and a member of the clergy.
