VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT
Volunteers at St. Bart's are the core of St. Bart's -- appreciated every day and recognized in a special year tribute, they number over 500! Thank you all! If you have a volunteer you'd like to spotlight, please , Director of Communication Arts.
VOLUNTEER: Carol Tanner
A SPECIAL THANK YOU. Over the past several months, Carol Tanner has made a tremendous contribution to the occasionally chaotic world of the Second Floor. She has taken on two huge projects for the Rector’s Office and has almost completed what seemed, at the beginning, to be an overwhelming and never-ending job. She has sorted through two databases, lots of old Sacramental Registers, and boxes of photocopies to draw up a comprehensive list of the Baptisms, Confirmations, and Marriages which were celebrated here over the last two decades. With the help of her daughter Lee, she oversaw the entry and correction of this information into the books in which these records are kept.
She also oversaw the organization, labeling and filing of almost two decades of Orders of Service, Bulletin inserts and printed Sermons by the clergy of St. Bart’s. This is of particular value for both historical reasons (as part of a rich archive that goes back to the 1830’s) and for current ones (when the clergy at a planning meeting need to know what was done last year or over the past several years for a given Sunday or holiday).
Carol is organized, efficient, proactive and just fun to work with. And she has literally rescued Millard from drowning beneath a “sea of paper.” It would be impossible to adequately acknowledge the impact that her service has already had and will continue to have in the months and years to come. And it should also be mentioned in passing that she has also volunteered extensively for St. Bart’s Central and for another special project for the Development Committee.

VOLUNTEER: Kristin Lord
May 2009: Kristin is new member of St. Barts and is using her professional communication skills to help Roz (Director of Communications) get the word out on all the great things happening here. Updating and expanding media lists, making them more efficient and following up with phone calls to the press are just a few of the ways she helps communicate the great events that go on at St. Bart’s. Her previous background in communications and public affairs has brought new insight into non-traditional ways we can reach a lot of people for free. An Albany transplant, Kristin volunteers three days a week.
VOLUNTEER: Trixy Treat
March 2009: Did you ever wonder how all those flyers about everything from the history of St. Bart's to AA meetings to the latest Great Music concert get placed in the narthex everyweek? No it's not the good fairy. It's people like Trixy who come in and work with our staff to make such things happen. Not a week goes by when you won't see Trixy somewhere amongst us, either filing with Ronnie and Ashley in the Development Office , or gently chiding Roz that we need more of this or that, or helping a Bill Tully message find it's way to someone by patiently sealing hundreds of envelopes. These things matter and distinguish a great church from a good one. A church is its people. Big ideas and details go together. Thanks Trixy... we appreciate you. (No one calls her Beatrice as "Trixy" is much more festive. She agrees.)
VOLUNTEER: Ron Bagden
February 2009: Featured Volunteer: Ron Bagden
Ron has helped us with internet research and promotion, finding such sites as "Beyond Sight" which features Bill Tully describing St. Bart's for those who are visually impaired. Ron's partner, composer Scott Killian, sings in the St. Bart's Choir. Ron is an actor and we thank him all of his help.
