Schola Cantorum
An ensemble formed for the purpose of performing and perfecting the art of singing plainsong, the unison chant, originally unaccompanied, which was the musical basis of Christian liturgy from the beginnings of the Church.
Singing plainsong within an ensemble can be one of the most spiritually satisfying musical experiences for a singer. Although demanding, since it requires good reading abilities as well as the sensitivity to blend well in an ensemble and a clear tone, it is well worth the challenge.
