Requesting a Prayer: St. Bartholomew's Prayer List

Prayer is at the heart of our mission as a church. In both our daily and Sunday prayers we remember the church, the world and this community, along with the sick or troubled, and those who have died. We also rejoice in prayers of thanksgiving for birth, baptism, marriage or other rites of passage.

We offer prayers for the sick and the dead as they come to us by direct request. If you would like your name to be added or would like to add someone else to the prayer list, you may contact any of the clergy directly by phone or email or send an email to prayers@stbarts.org.

Tell us what you can about the situation being prayed for. Please know that if both first and last names are to be listed, the person being prayed for must consent to having their name listed. We use reasonable judgment in limiting the publicly read prayers of the church to those who are members or close friends or relatives of members. Names are normally included for two Sundays, with the understanding that you’ll ask again if you wish the time extended.

Prayers for specific needs and concerns are also offered regularly by a member of our staff or the Prayer Team as the needs come to our attention. One way to make your concern known and to have it prayed for is to fill out a Prayer Card. These are available in the pews or at St. Bart’s Central. You can also contact a member of the clergy or staff directly with prayer requests.

Finally, during communion time at our Sunday 9, 11, and 7 o'clock Eucharists, we offer the ancient tradition of healing prayer with the laying-on-of-hands at the prayer desks with clergy and members of the Prayer Team. This is just one more way in which we "bear one another’s burdens" through prayer.

For more information about the prayer list, send email to prayers@stbarts.org.
