Recreation
St. Bart's is home to a swimming pool, gymnasium, and dance studio. Nearly a dozen professionally run programs take place year round, including swimming, tennis, and fencing lessons, as well as soccer, basketball and floor hockey.
H.E.A.R.T. of St. Bart's
Collectively, the recreation program is called the H.E.A.R.T. of St. Bart's (for Health, Education, Aquatics, Recreation, and Training) and is geared towards children. In addition to signing up for the independent programs listed below, adult parishioners can rent any of the facilities for private events, classes, group lessons, and basketball, hockey or volleyball.
Aquatics
St. Bart's has just launched a comprehensive aquatics program in which highly skilled, certified swimming instructors offer all levels of lessons, from infant and toddler water adjustment through lifeguard training. Both private and group lessons are available.
SNACK Swim & Sports
SNACK, the Special Needs Activity Center for Kids, provides one-on-one swimming lessons and group sports such as soccer and yoga in a safe and fun environment to children with a variety of special needs.
Kids in Sports
Emphasizing sportsmanship, teamwork, respect, and communication skills, this program teaches kids young athletes the fundamentals of baseball, floor hockey, soccer, and basketball. Sessions are age-appropriate for boys and girls ages 2 through 12 years old.
Art Stars
Children exercise their creativity while learning art history in classes designed and taught by art teachers from the Chapin School. All projects are related to famous works of art.
Children's Tennis
The emphasis is on total fitness and motor skill development in this tennis program. Beginner through advanced lessons include instructional drills, technique, and competition.
Frontier Fencing
Learn the Olympic sport of fencing with Frontier Fencing Studio. Instructors have competed in both NCAA and Olympic Games, and offer instruction to ages 8 through 13 in the St. Bart's gym. Find out more online at www.frontierfencing.com.
Swim Jim
This is the most recognized swim school in New York for its ordered, methodical approach to teaching swimming skills. Instructors pay special attention to children's behavioral and developmental patterns, and will respond to their fears with gentleness, humor, and discipline. Super Soccer Stars
Right in the heart of St. Bart's, children enjoy New York's most popular after school soccer program. Coaches are multi-national in background, and use positive reinforcement to encourage and instill confidence.
Summer Camps
Summer at St. Bart's offers three options for the summer season.
St. Bart's Day Camp includes instructional swimming, sports, dance, and activities on the rooftop playground for 3.6 to 9 year olds (with half days available for 3.6 to 4 year olds).
Island Sports Camp includes swimming at St. Bart's, followed by soccer and tennis on Roosevelt Island for 6 to 13 year olds.
