NEWS FLASH!! Wendy was the preacher at the Forma Tapestry Conference January 30 - February 1, 2013 in Albuquerque, New Mexico for which Richard Rohr was keynoter. She was also responsible for the pre-conference day and presented a workshop entitled “The Church Post Sunday School: How We Connect and Engage in 21st Century Christian Formation.”
Forma is the professional organization of Episcopal Christian educators and Wendy, who has served on the board for four years, is the outgoing vice president.
As a Christian educator, Wendy Claire Barrie has served six congregations large and small, urban and suburban, on both coasts, since 1989.
Most recently, she was Director of Education and Community Resources at Christ Church in Greenwich, CT, and immediately before that served as Children's Minister at All Saints Church in Pasadena, CA.
Wendy is the outgoing vice president of Forma, the professional organization of Episcopal educators (www.episcoforma.org), and has been a consultant in Christian formation resources to Church Publishing since 2008. At General Convention in 2012, she represented Forma and advocated in legislative sessions for formation ministries. From 2002 to 2004, she represented the Diocese of New York to Province II (New York, New Jersey, Haiti, the Virgin Islands and the Convocation of Churches in Europe) and Province II to ECCE, the Episcopal Council for Christian Education.
Her background in Early Childhood Education and Theatre Arts has served her surprisingly well in the church, and she is trained in both Catechesis of the Good Shepherd and Godly Play. Wendy is passionate about the full inclusion of children in worship and in the life of the church. She is also the proud mother of a nine-year-old son, Peter.
